RRUW Thanks Supporters for Their Generosity in 2015

Another River Region United Way annual giving campaign is in the history books, and we can’t thank our donors enough for helping impact nearly 135,000 lives in our communities!

Supporters gathered at the Ballroom at Alley Station on January 27 for the annual Recognition & Results event, where campaign volunteers were recognized for their contributions, and the final amount raised during the campaign was announced.

Giving Tuesday: Help Support more than 140,000 needy on Tuesday

Giving Tuesday

On Tuesday, December 1st, our community is coming together for a special 24-hour online giving event called Giving Tuesday, and we need YOU to join us! Following all of that shopping on Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday is a day to celebrate giving by donating to your favorite cause.

Like you, I care about our community. And that’s why I support the River Region United Way by giving and volunteering. Today, I ask that you please make time to give. Your support will help United Way continue to fulfill its mission of improving the quality of life in our communities.

Because of you, a little can go a long way.

  • For $25, instead of going out to see a movie… You can provide a hot, nutritious meal for 10 senior citizens.
  • For $50, instead of buying the latest video game… You can provide a winter coat and shoes for a child in need.
  • For $100, instead of buying gourmet coffee for a month… You can provide vocational training for a disabled person to enter the workforce.

With your help and the help of others, the United Way can continue to impact the lives of nearly 140,000 people throughout the River Region. That’s 1 in 3 of our neighbors!

To make your gift securely online, go to www.RiverRegionUnitedWay.org/Donate.

Thank you, in advance, for considering a gift in support of the River Region United Way.

Service Above Self Award Given to High School Senior Quinnen Williams

Quinnen Williams11/30/15

The Montgomery Rotary Club honored Wenonah High School Senior Quinnen Williams with the first-ever Service Above Self Award, which recognizes a member of Alabama’s High School All-Star Football team who best recognizes the spirit of giving. The award was given with the participation of the Alabama High School Athletic Association. Director Alvin Briggs participated in the presentation. Quinnen Williams was joined by his father, his Wenonah High School Coach, Athletic Director, and the Birmingham City Schools Superintendent

After losing his mother five years ago to breast cancer, Quinnen has helped to raise his younger siblings. Even with the time commitment of his home life and his role as football team captain, he still finds time to be one of his school’s and church’s most active volunteers. On December 12th in Hattiesburg, MS, Quinnen will join his fellow all-stars in representing Alabama against Mississippi’s all-star squad.

Quinnen has signed to play football at the University of Alabama in the fall.
